Our Portobello workshop is open year-round and based at Tribe Porty, 19 Windsor Place.

From 10 - 30 September 2019, Velow Bikeworks, brought its range of restored and custom-built steel-framed bicycles to the heart of Stockbridge. Established in Edinburgh in 2015 and now based in Portobello, Velow Bikeworks restores and repurposes classic and vintage steel bicycles from the 1950s to 1990s that would otherwise be dumped in landfill. All of our classic bikes are sympathetically restored to original condition or custom built to our customers' individual specification.

We have a wide range of ready-to-ride bicycles ranging from 3-speed town run-arounds to simple single speeds and retro 80s mountain bikes to fully restored lightweight racers from the golden era of cycling.

Based in Space at Seventeen, a private hire concept space at 17 St Stephen Street, the Velow pop-up stocked a wide range of ready-to-ride classic bicycles, hand-built British frames and refurbished vintage components alongside t-shirts, prints and cycling-related gift items from a hand-picked selection of local artists. It also hosted an exhibition by local illustrator and cycling enthusiast Rebecca J Kaye.

We're loved bringing our bikes to Stockbridge and we may be back again. Meantime, drop by our permanent workshop in Portobello to see the awesome range of vintage bikes and bits or come in to chat about a custom build or restoration project you might have in mind.
